. The Penumbra is in the Beta Quadrant in the "no-man's land" between the Klingon Empire and the Gorn Hegemony, hovering near a nondescript star and watching a hodge-podge collection of storage containers and piece-meal connecting corridors that was apparently some kind of space station for pirates, smugglers, and traders.
. We followed a plasma trail of a leaking ship to this station hoping it would lead us to the kidnapped Gorn Ambassador named Ssissthiss. On the way we picked up a different damaged freighter named the Canteen of Sparkles. The captain of that freighter is a woman named Misty Mane of a species called "Pixeltrons". We recruited her help, and her ship, to infiltrate the station.
. Now, the Canteen has docked with the station. Misty, Col. Patterson, Ssgt. Davies, and LtCmdr. T'Lin, are headed to meet with a mostly-Nausicaan tavern owner named Gorg, while two of Davies' Pathfinders remain on the Canteen to guard the ship. Gorg and Misty have an established relationship in which he has often purchased food and mushrooms from her. He can be considered friendly to her (for the most part).
. While the Canteen is at the station, the Penumbra is parked on the edge of the gravity well of the nearby star. The star appeared at first glance to be a perfectly ordinary Class G yellow dwarf like Sol itself, but since the Penumbra took up its position, there has been some increased solar flares. It bears watching. It wouldn't be good for us to be this close and get caught in some coronal ejection or something!
. The station itself has quite a bit of activity with ships dropping out of warp "dangerously close" to the station and maneuvering at "unsafe speeds" into docking berths to beat out competition. Since the Penumbra arrived in the area, two more Nausicaan freighters, four small Gorn shuttles, and even a Klingon freighter, have arrived. Two Gorn craft and one Orion ship have left the station.
. The Penumbra is using its MIRAGE system, but it is not 100% effective since there are still many missing sensors and emitters. We also do not have our Point Defense Turrets. But, all other systems are up and running.
